I love using sour cherry juice in cocktails because it’s just the right balance of sweet and tart. In this Sparkling Cherry Tequila Sunrise, the cherry juice is the perfect foil for the tequila. It shaves off the bitterness and, combined with the grenadine, gives the drink just the right amount of sweetness. Sometimes you don’t need to invent a new cocktail, you simply have to give something everyone loves a fresh angle!
One of the prettiest parts about this cocktail is the distribution of colors. Everyone loves a classic tequila sunrise and this one has even prettier colors because of the cherry juice and grenadine.
This is a strong cocktail so I recommend serving it as something that should be sipped slowly. I like to have it while I’m eating my meal. It also is really popular at parties. Everyone loves it and it looks great on a bar.
I hope you enjoy this fun classic cocktail with a fresh twist! Cheers!
Sparkling Cherry Tequila Sunrise
Sometimes I like to give classic cocktails a fun twist. Instead of reinventing the wheel completely, I find it much easier to assemble the ingredients for what we love and add a new flavor to give it a fresh profile. In this case, I’ve taken the classic tequila sunrise cocktail and added sour cherry soda, a very popular soda in Greece. It will be your new favorite for summer!
Makes 1 cocktail Ingredients:
1 1/2 oz tequila
1/2 oz grenadine syrup
4-6 oz sour cherry soda
Orange slice, for garnish
Maraschino cherry, for garnish
Instructions:
Fill a glass with ice cubes.
Pour in the tequila and grenadine syrup.
Stir gently to combine.
Top with sour cherry soda, leaving some space at the top.
Garnish with an orange slice and a maraschino cherry.
Give it a gentle stir to distribute the colors.
Enjoy!
