There are few things more delicious and fun than Red Velvet White Chocolate Chip Cookies at Christmas. Yes, you read that right. We all love, and I mean LOVE, red velvet in my house. The rich red chocolate is a delight in every way and the kids and I always go for it whenever we have the chance. Red Velvet works well for many things, including cakes, cupcakes, cheesecakes and more. But, in this case, we are making cookies that look like fantastic Christmas ornaments on a plate.
The recipe is nice to work with because it’s familiar in the sense that it works like most other cookie recipes. In fact, it’s highly likely you have a lot of these ingredients in the house, maybe even the white chocolate chips! I love how festive the white and the red velvet are together. They look fantastic on a big white cookie plate at any gathering.
Practically speaking, I encourage you to consider these for your repertoire because you can make and freeze the dough ahead of time. This is really helpful during the holiday season when you might not have the time to make cookies truly from scratch all in one sitting. They’re also really pretty when they’re packaged in a clear bag or box and given to teachers, friends, or anyone else in your life you love.
These delicious and versatile holiday cookies are bound to become an instant favorite in your family. It’s always fun to return to old favorites, and throw in something new, each holiday season. I hope you have a wonderful one with your family and friends!

Makes Two Dozen Cookies
Ingredients:
For the cookies:
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 tbsp milk
1 tbsp red food coloring (gel or liquid)
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup white chocolate chips
Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Mix the dry ingredients:
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
3. Cream the butter and sugars:
In a large bowl, using a hand mixer or stand mixer, beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
4. Add wet ingredients:
Add the egg, milk, red food coloring, and vanilla extract to the butter-sugar mixture. Beat until fully combined, and the mixture turns a uniform red color.
5. Combine wet and dry ingredients:
Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture. Mix on low speed until the dough is just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
6. Fold in white chocolate chips:
Gently fold in the white chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
7. Shape the cookies:
Scoop about 1-2 tablespoons of dough and roll into balls. Place them on the prepared baking sheet, about 2 inches apart.
8. Bake:
Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers are still soft. The cookies will continue to firm up as they cool.
9. Cool and serve:
Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
