Pumpkin Whipped Feta

There are a lot of delicious feta dips in Greek cuisine because feta lends itself so well to being whipped into a light, fluffy concoction. It also is a great tangy, blank slate to which you can add all kinds of delicious flavors. In this episode, I make Pumpkin Whipped Feta, a whipped feta dip with a healthy dose of pureed pumpkin and some warm spices stirred in. It’s savory and sweet and perfect for the season!

I like making this in the fall because it is a nice way to serve pumpkin that isn’t sweet. Don’t get me wrong, I do love a slice of pumpkin bread, but sometimes I really just like to enjoy the savory side of pumpkin. This recipe comes together very quickly and easily and can stay in the fridge until you need it. I like to serve it in a seasonal holiday bowl for fall. Sometimes I position the bowl in the middle of one of my famous grazing tables and have cheese sticks, crackers, and pita chips surrounding it for the nibblers.

The nice thing about this dip is that you can serve it with whatever you have on hand for scooping. I like to serve it with grilled pita, pita chips, pretzels, or any kind of cracker. My kids love to eat this before dinner with vegetables and it’s very easy to dress up for a party with a variety of nibbles to dip into it.

This Pumpkin Whipped Feta Dip is going to make the whole family happy this fall. Be sure to have it all lined up for the holiday season and have a great one!

Pumpkin Whipped Feta with Honey and Thyme

This is a really cool dip that is perfect for fall. I love the combination of sweet pumpkin and tangy cheese, it’s savory and sweet all at once.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup pumpkin purée (canned or homemade)

  • 8 oz feta cheese, crumbled

  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tbsp fresh thyme leaves (plus extra for garnish)

  • 2 tbsp honey (plus more for drizzling)

  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Crusty bread or pita chips for serving

Instructions:

  1. Prep the feta mixture: In a food processor, combine the crumbled feta, cream cheese, and olive oil. Blend until smooth and creamy.

  2. Add pumpkin and spices: Add the pumpkin purée, cinnamon, nutmeg, and fresh thyme to the whipped feta. Blend again until fully combined and smooth.

  3. Season: Taste and season with salt and pepper as desired.

  4. Transfer to a serving bowl: Scoop the whipped feta mixture into a serving bowl and smooth the top.

  5. Drizzle with honey: Drizzle 2 tablespoons of honey over the top, then garnish with extra thyme leaves for a pop of color and freshness.

  6. Serve: Serve immediately with crusty bread, pita chips, or your favorite crackers for dipping.
