Crispy Chicken Drumsticks

I swear, there is nothing like Crispy Chicken Drumsticks to get a gathering going. Whenever I set down a platter of these they’re gone within minutes. I swear, it’s like they’re inhaled by the room itself! There are many ways to make drumsticks and here’s one that’s really popular in our house. It’s a wonderful method for making them with lots of flavor and yummy, crispy skin!

Don’t skimp on the seasonings when you’re making these. I’m a BIG believer in flavor and make sure every drumstick is well-coated when they’re being tossed around in the bag. I don’t want any loose seasonings left! If, per chance, you’re unsure if they are flavored well enough you can sprinkle more seasoning in and I won’t mind one bit.

Once they’re all flavored, I make sure the oven is piping hot and ready for the drumsticks to go in. The heat is what cooks them through but also makes the skin extra crispy. I think this is the best way, I don’t want drumsticks with skin that’s any less crispy than a delicious potato chip.

This recipe makes eight drumsticks, but if you’re expecting company, I highly recommend you double or triple the recipe. I’ve never, ever had any leftover from a party. I’ve also never seen anyone eat just one. They’re just that kind of food you want to nosh on. It probably goes without saying, but be sure to serve these with plenty of napkins and cold beer to really make it a great snack. And, if you do luck out and have some leftover, you can simply pop them in the fridge and enjoy them cold the next day. I promise, these drumsticks are just as a good as any piece of fried chicken you’ll ever have. I highly recommend you get yourself a bag or two at the store and make them today!

Chicken Drumsticks

Drumsticks are a universal favorite and you’ll love this recipe because it makes them so easy to pull together. If you’re expecting a crowd you might want to go right ahead and double or triple the batch to make sure you have enough.

  • 8 chicken drumsticks

  • 1/4 cup olive oil

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon paprika

  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme

  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt and 1/2 teaspoon of pepper to taste

  • Cooking spray

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and lightly coat it with cooking spray.

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, onion powder, dried thyme, dried oregano, salt, and pepper.

  1. Pat the chicken drumsticks dry with paper towels.

  1. Place the chicken drumsticks in a large resealable plastic bag.

  1. Pour the olive oil mixture over the chicken drumsticks in the bag. Seal the bag and massage the marinade into the chicken until well coated.

  1. Arrange the chicken drumsticks on the prepared baking sheet in a single layer.

  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the skin is crispy and golden brown.

  1. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.

  1. Serve the crispy baked chicken drumsticks with your favorite dipping sauce or alongside mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables.
