Christmas Bark with Pretzels

The general recipe for any kind of bark dessert is chocolate melted in a thin layer with something salty and crunchy. Then, the top is drizzled and dotted with all kinds of sprinkles and decorations and more tasty treats. You really can’t go wrong when you start with this approach. Today I’m making Christmas Pretzel Bark with caramel and candies sprinkled on top.

This is a great recipe to make with kids. In fact, older kids can really handle this themselves from start to finish. I LOVE to make it with my youngest, she goes bananas with the sprinkles and decorations and we have so much fun with it all.

It's important to note you can use either white chocolate or regular chocolate when making this bark. You could also a little of both and swirl them together for a marbled effect. Then, choose your holiday decorations and apply them liberally. (When approaching this project remember that more is more!)

Once the bark is melted together and the top has been decorated you must let it cool. In fact, the best thing to do is chill it until it is solid as a rock. Then, carefully break it up into chunks with your hands. You want it to break apart into pieces that are bite size. Not too big, but also not too small.

To package it up as a gift, place it in a box lined with parchment paper. It also looks very pretty when it is stored in a glass jar so you can see the candy shining through. If you’re serving it in your house, place it on a tray with an assortment of cookies and nibbles. It even looks really pretty on a holiday-themed grazing table.

Once you get the hang of making holiday bark you won’t be able to stop. There are endless possibilities with flavor combinations and it makes the perfect gift for just about everyone on your list!

Christmas Bark with Pretzels Christmas bark is such a fun treat for the kids and adults. We make it using pretzels and chocolate because the chocolate and salt combination is so incredibly delicious!

Ingredients:

  • 12 ounces of white chocolate chips

  • 1 1/2 cups pretzels, broken into small pieces

  • 1/4 cup dried cranberries

  • Caramel sauce (for drizzling)

  • Red and green sprinkles (for decoration)

Instructions: 1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat and set it aside. In a microwave-safe bowl or using a double boiler, melt the white chocolate until it's smooth and fully melted. If using a microwave, heat it in 20-30 second intervals, stirring well between each interval to avoid overheating.

2. Once the white chocolate is melted, add the broken pretzels, and dried cranberries. Stir to coat all the ingredients evenly. Pour the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet. Use a spatula to spread it out into an even layer, about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. 3. Decorate the bark by drizzling the caramel sauce and festive sprinkles on top of the warm chocolate. Then, place the baking sheet in the refrigerator and let the bark set for at least 1 hour, or until it's completely firm.

4. Once the Christmas bark has hardened, remove it from the refrigerator and break it into pieces. You can do this by simply snapping it with your hands or using a knife to make more even pieces. Enjoy!
