Chocolate Cheese Cake Balls

Writer's picture: Nikki GlekasNikki Glekas

These are one of my favorite things to make. They are Valentine’s Cheesecake Balls made with cream cheese and Oreo cookies. I call them my “cheater truffles”! This is because they taste exactly like delicious truffles you can buy at a beautiful chocolate shop, but are so much easier to make. I think they are also a little more kid-friendly than gourmet truffles because they can be flavored with different extracts and everyone loves the crushed Oreo shell.

This is such a fun way to make Valentine’s Day treats with your children. They aren’t fancy, but taste fancy. Plus, they aren’t hard to make but feel like they should be! I really love recipes like this because they’re perfect to make when you’re running around busy with work and family.

The key to making these is having the ingredients at room temperature. This way the cream cheese is already malleable and combines nicely with the other ingredients. Then, follow the directions and use very clean hands to shape them into perfect balls before they’re popped in the fridge to cool. Once they’re shaped and cooled down you can serve them on a dessert plate or wrap them up for gifts to give to friends and teachers.

You’re going to love these delicious Valentine’s Cheesecake Balls. Once you see how easy they are to make and how much everyone enjoys them, you’ll make them every single year!

Valentines Chocolate-Covered Cheesecake Balls

These amazing cheesecake balls are perfect for Valentine’s Day. I like to consider them ‘cheater truffles’ and they’re great for kids to make!

Ingredients:

Makes 12 – 14 bites

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened

  • 1/3 cup powdered sugar

  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 cup crushed Oreos

  • 1 cup melted dark chocolate (for dipping)

  • Sprinkles

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the filling: In a bowl, mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, cocoa powder, and vanilla extract until well combined.

  2. Add the crumbs: Fold in the crushed Oreos or chocolate cookie crumbs until evenly distributed.

  3. Shape the balls: Roll the mixture into 1-inch balls and place them on a lined baking sheet.

  4. Chill: Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to firm up.

  5. Coat in chocolate: Dip each ball into the melted dark chocolate, allowing any excess to drip off. Place on the baking sheet and garnish with sprinkles

  6. Set and serve: Refrigerate until the chocolate coating is firm. Store in an airtight container in the fridge until serving.
