Banana Bites with Chocolate Drizzle

I’m dialing it back to basics today with Chocolate Banana Bites. I wanted to film this episode because I’m a big believer in having simple recipes we all can use in our homes. Cooking for our families should not be complicated. Banana has been one of my kid’s favorite foods since they were babies. We still always have them in the house. For this treat we simply dip them in chocolate, sprinkle with sea salt, and freeze them until solid. Then, voila, an easy-to-make sweet is born!

This is a very simple recipe to execute, but still give yourself enough time to make them correctly. I suggest resting the banana slices on a fork to dip them in the melted chocolate. This keeps the process clean and ensures you get the entire slice completely covered. Then, make sure you give the slices enough time to cool until solid. These don’t need to be frozen forever, but they really need to cool down and that takes time. You don’t want the chocolate or banana to be soft at all when you serve them.

When you serve these, I suggest doing so on a cooled plate and leaving them out of direct sunlight. In the summer my kids like to eat them right out of the fridge. In this recipe I sprinkle the slices with sea salt, but you can also sprinkle them with pretty sprinkles if you’re making them festive for an event. You could also serve them on a skewer like a kabob.

I hope you enjoy this simple recipe. Sometimes the best sweet treats are the simplist! If you have aspiring cooks in your house this can be a really fun recipe for them to try. It will give them good practice in the kitchen and the outcome will taste amazing no matter what. Enjoy!

Banana Bites with Chocolate Drizzle

This is a fun recipe I’ve made with my kids in the past. They’re healthy snacks to keep in the fridge and are really fun to serve at a party!

Ingredients:

  • 2 bananas, peeled and sliced

  • 12 oz melting chocolate (milk, dark, or white)

  • Sea salt flakes

Instructions:

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside.

  2. Melt the chocolate in a double boiler or microwave until smooth.

  3. Place each banana slice on a fork and dip it in the chocolate so it’s completely covered. Then, bring the banana slice back up and let the excess chocolate drip off.

  4. Place the dipped chocolate slice on a parchment-lined baking sheet and sprinkle them with sea salt flakes

  5. Once all the slices are dipped refrigerate them for 15-20 minutes until chocolate sets.
